Quote in writing, before I start
Flat-rate when I can, hourly with a clear ceiling when I can't. You see the number, what's covered, what isn't, and an honest ETA — by text, before I drive over. No chalk-talk pricing on your kitchen counter.
Northforge is a one-person handyman service based in Harwood Heights. There's no dispatcher, no rotating tech, no franchise overhead. When you text me, you reach me. When you book a job, I do the job.

Every home has a list. The TV that's still leaning against the wall. The closet door that drags. The patches from the last tenant. The faucet that's been dripping for six weeks. Most of it isn't a big project — it's the kind of work that doesn't justify calling a contractor and that a busy household never gets to.
I started Northforge because the existing handyman options in the Harwood Heights corridor either don't return calls, charge by the day for an hour of work, or are franchises where you get whoever's available. I'm building something different: small jobs taken seriously, prices published in plain sight, the same person every time, and a written quote before I drive over.
These are the things I think you have a right to expect from anyone who shows up at your house with tools. The market doesn't always deliver them, so I'm putting them in writing.

If I'm running late, you'll know before the appointment, not after. If I can't make it, I find someone who can — same standards, no charge for the swap.
If a job runs into something unexpected — rotted wood behind a fixture, a stud bay that doesn't go where I thought — I stop and call. No surprise add-ons on the invoice.
Plumbing system work, Chicago electrical wiring, roofing, gas, structural — these are licensed trades for a reason. I'll give you a name from my referral list, free, and not pretend to be qualified for it.
Drop cloths down, dust contained, walk-through with you before I pack up. The bathroom is cleaner than I found it. I take the cardboard with me.
What you can hold me to, in writing.
Text me a photo and a few words about your job. I'll quote it back the same day, in writing.
